PenNaatak is Penn's only South Asian theater troupe. We are dedicated to exploring issues in the South Asian diaspora through theater. Our previous productions include Mahesh Dattani's "Tara", Ayub Khan-Din's "East is East", Vijay Tendulkar's "Silence! The Court Is In Session" and Tom Stoppard's "Indian Ink".
We are looking for talented actors, writers, directors, set designers, lighting crew, producers or anybody else interested in learning more about or participating in theatre. You do not need to have any experience to be a part of our troupe; we love introducing newcomers and beginners to theatre. If you are interested or want to find out more about theatre and the production process, please email us. We put up full-length productions in fall semesters and short pieces (one-acts) in the spring. Other than our main shows, we also perform in the SAS cultural shows, FPAN and collaborative theater productions - Small Fall and One Acts.
If you would like more information, or would like to be added to our mailing
list, please email us at naatak@gmail.com.

Our Fall 2008 production:
SAMMY!
The word that Broke an Empire
"From man to Mahatma: Sammy! is an inside look into Mahatma Gandhi. Led by a lively debate between Mohandas, the man, and Mahatma, the icon, the play highlights Gandhi's relationships and how he changed everyone he touched. It traces the transformation of the young Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi from a naive, tongue-tied lawyer into a ...Mahatma."
Sammy! is the winner of four all-India Mahindra awards for Excellence in Theatre 2006.
